The Materials
What everything is made of.
Every material in an AETHEL piece is chosen because it is the best available for that purpose — not the most convenient, not the most margined, not the most recognisable. These are macro photographs of the actual materials: vegetable-tanned leather, Mongolian cashmere, Scottish herringbone wool, Italian silk, and hardware cast in either 24k gold or palladium by a master goldsmith in Valenza, Italy.

Vegetable-Tanned · Hand Saddle-Stitched
Marco Ferretti, Oltrarno, Florence. Two needles, waxed linen thread. The stitch cannot be replicated by machine.
Leather · Grain
Full-grain surface. Every mark is the animal's life. It does not hide imperfection — it records it.
Cashmere · Mongolian Plateau
Gantulga Batbold's herd. Combed by hand in spring. 14–15 microns. The softest fibre in the collection.
Wool · Herringbone
Todd & Duncan, Kinross. Est. 1867. The weave visible at this scale.
Hardware · 24k Gold
Cast by hand in Valenza, Italy. SMO-certified gold, fully traceable to the Yanfolila mine, Mali.
Hardware · Palladium
Rarer than platinum. Naturally white, harder than gold, does not tarnish. Cast in Valenza. The alternative for those who know.
These photographs were taken at macro scale — closer than the human eye typically sees. The intention is not to make the materials look exotic. It is to show that they hold up at this level of scrutiny. Most materials do not. These do.
