THE EVENT
Petit Le Mans at Road Atlanta is one of North America's premier endurance racing events — ten hours of racing that tests machinery and drivers in equal measure. The atmosphere is different from the concours circuit: less formal, more visceral, the smell of fuel and rubber replacing the smell of fresh-cut grass. But the people in the hospitality suites are the same people. They have simply changed their shoes.
WHY WE ARE HERE
Endurance racing attracts a particular kind of collector — one who values performance over appearance, who understands that the most beautiful thing a machine can do is work perfectly under sustained pressure. This is AETHEL's language: not the performance of quality, but its demonstration over time.
A RECORD — THE FOUNDER
"He was in the grandstand, not the hospitality suite. He had been invited to the suite — he always was — but he preferred to watch from where the sound was loudest. A man sitting next to him, a stranger, noticed the jacket. He asked about the lining — an unusual choice, a silk woven with a pattern so subtle it was almost invisible. He said: 'It's a map.' The man asked: of what. He said: 'Of a place I intend to go.'"
The founder's identity is known only to the Founding 12. What follows is the record of what was said before it was done.
