A RECORD — THE FOUNDER
"He was at the fair on the first day, the preview day, when only collectors and VIPs are admitted. He stood in front of a large canvas — a work he had seen in a catalogue and wanted to see in person — for twenty minutes. A woman who worked for the gallery asked if he had any questions. He said: 'I want to know if the artist made this alone.' She said yes. He said: 'That's all I needed to know.' He bought it."
